LAHORE: Pakistan Tehreek e Insaf (PTI) leader Chaudhry Fawad Hussain on Saturday said no leader of the PTI had filed a plea for bail, rather the leadership had turned down the offers of freedom, Bol News reported.
Talking to media outside the Lahore High Court (LHC), Fawad Chaudhry said the pleas filed in the court sought medical assistance and permission for meeting. They all were political leaders and not terrorists, he maintained.
He said he hoped that the Supreme Court would stand by the constitution of Pakistan. He said the purpose of the Pakistan Muslim League-N (PML-N) was to weaken the courts.
“The movement will continue all over the country. If the constitution is not safe in the country then nothing will remain safe. The purpose of the Jail Bharo Tehreek is to spread awareness among the masses to struggle for their political and economic rights,” he said.
Fawad said weakening the chief justice of Pakistan was tantamount to weakening the Supreme Court. He said more than 100 PTI workers and leaders were arrested.
On February 23, PTI Senior Vice Chairman Shah Mahmood Qureshi had been detained for 30 days.
On the recommendation of the Deputy Commissioner Lahore, the Punjab Home Department had issued a detention notification.
Meanwhile, Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) leader Senator Azam Swati had been transferred to District Jail Rahim Yar Khan.
The workers had come in front of the prisoner’s van to meet Azam Swati but did not stop the vehicle and hit the three workers, injuring two female and one male workers.
As per detail, the PTI workers had protested against the police and shouted slogans. The workers who had came for the reception did not meet Azam Swati, but the workers protested strongly outside the jail
