LAHORE: The Lahore High Court (LHC) on Monday granted time to Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Chairman Imran Khan to appear in the court till 5pm.

LHC has been hearing the protective bail plea of Imran Khan in ECP’s protest case. PTI chief’s lawyer presented his arguments apologizing for the delay in appearance due to traffic.

Last week, the court ordered Imran Khan to appear in the case on Monday at 2 pm.

The lawyer maintained that Imran Khan could not appear in the court as Mall Road was clogged and he could be brought only if the passage is clear.

Justice Sheikh in his remarks asked Azhar Siddique’s advocate to ensure the presence of his client in the court. “We are giving you time until 5pm to present Imran Khan before the court.”

On the other hand, security has been put on high alert as Imran Khan is expected to appear before the Lahore High Court.

Heavy contingent of police has been posted inside and outside of the LHC. Nobody else except the court staff, petitioners and lawyers are allowed inside the court premises.

The people coming into the high court are being allowed after intense checking.
