KARACHI: Actor Feroze Khan has approached the Sindh High Court (SHC) over alleged harassment and taking of mobile phone in custody by the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA).

Upon Feroze Khan’s contacting the SHC, the court has restrained the FIA from harassing the actor and issued a show cause notice to the FIA for February 21.

The actor’s counsel Shabbir Shah said the FIA misused its authority and confiscated Feroze Khan’s cell phone. The applicant lawyer said the FIA had taken his phone password as well which contained his private information.

Justice Umar Sial asked if an inquiry was underway against Khan. The lawyer affirmed saying that he had mistakenly posted a legal notice on social media. The lawyer said complainant Sharmeen Omabi Chinoi had registered a complaint that by posting legal notice on social media he had defamed her.

The applicant said Feroze Khan accepted his mistake and removed the notice within three minutes from the social media. The FIA made Feroze Khan sit for six hours, he maintained adding that he would file for payment of compensation against the FIA.

Shabbir Shah pleaded to the court to order the FIA to return Feroze Khan’s phone.

On February 5, another concern had surfaced amid the ongoing uproar surrounding Feroze Khan and his numerous legal problems. Faiq Jagirani, the previous legal representative for the actor, had accused Muneeb Butt of slander. Jagirani had claimed that Butt had abused his rights as an attorney and slandered him.

Jagirani had claimed that this had irreparably damaged his reputation and that he had filed a FIR to seek redress. Jagirani had asked the FIA to bring Butt to justice under the 2016 PECA in the complaint. Additionally, he had sent a letter requesting legal action and the registration of a FIR against Butt to the FIA cybercrime coordinator in Karachi.
