Pakistan Muslim League-Q President Chaudhry Shujaat Hussain has terminated the party membership of Chaudhry Pervez Elahi and suspended him from the party office.

Chaudhry Shujaat issued a show-cause notice to Elahi on January 16. However, Chaudhry Pervez termed the party meeting, which issued the notice, illegal and unconstitutional on Jan 26.

Elahi has been deprived of all the party posts and the people whom were appointed by him have also been dismissed from their offices. Shujaat has also forbidden Elahi to use the party’s name.

The party Spokesperson Mustafa Malik has also confirmed the termination of the memberships of Pervez Elahi and others.

It is pertinent to mention here that Pakistan Muslim League-Quaid’s (PML-Q) general council on Jan 26 elected Parvez Elahi as the party president.

Shujaat had sent a show-cause notice to Parvez Elahi over his comments regarding the party’s possible merger with the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI).

Elahi said that consultations were underway on a possible merger of PML-Q with PTI.

Last year, differences emerged between Shujaat and Elahi over the issue of support for PTI and the PDM government.

Shujaat Hussain, who is the president of PML-Q, supported the PDM candidate Hamza Shehbaz’s bid to become chief minister while PTI had put its weight behind Pervez Elahi’s candidature.
