KARACHI: Pakistan Tehreek e Insaf (PTI) Chairman Imran Khan and his wife Bushra Bibi are expected to be arrested in the case pertaining to Toshakhana gifts, Bol News reported on Thursday quoting sources as saying.

The sources said special raid squads of the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) had been formed in Islamabad and there was a shakeup in the FIA for dispatching the teams towards Lahore. They said women police officials would assist the raid for arrests.

The sources said information regarding presence of Imran Khan and his spouse in Lahore had been obtained. Advance preparation was being made to cope with the possible resistance upon arrest, they said.

They said there was a possibility of shifting them to Rawalpindi after arresting.

On February 22, Imran Khan had said the Jail Bahro Tehreek had been kicked off and was an extension of the Haqiqi Azadi movement against the government.

In a video address to the nation, the PTI chief had said Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif had said the nation should be prepared for new wave of inflation in the country.

He had reminded the prime minister of the statements in the past against the PTI government and the long marches against them. “This is the era of social media. You should remember your statements against inflation when we were in power,” he had said.

He had said Shehbaz Sharif was part of the conspiracy to bring down his government. “Shehbaz, Zardari, and Bajwa conspired to bring my government,” he had said.

He had said the PTI government was also part of the IMF programme but inflation was 12 percent. He had added that price of electricity, petrol, and other commodities increased three-fold and the dollar went up by Rs100 in the past few months.
