QUETTA: A local court in Barkhan district on Friday granted bail to Minister for Communication and Works Sardar Abdul Rehman Khetran in the triple murder case.

Session Judge Barkhan Malik Sajauddin granted bail to the provincial minister in a case pertaining to triple murders in Haji Kot area of Barkhan.

After receiving the bail order, his lawyer Advocate Manzoor said there is no concreate evidence of Khetran’s involvement in the murder case.

On March 02, Khetran was sent on judicial remand by a local court in Quetta. The court had ordered police to present the minister before the court in Barkhan.

Police arrested the minister after three bullet-riddled bodies, including a woman, were discovered in a well in the Hajikot area of Barkhan.

Local tribesman Khan Muhammad Marri had initially claimed that the deceased was his wife Giran Naz and their two sons. He alleged that five family members were still held captive by Sardar Khetran.

The case took a dramatic twist after the post-mortem examination of the bodies revealed that one of the deceased was a 17 to 18-year-old female. The police surgeon said the deceased was raped and tortured before being shot dead.

The medico-legal officer said that the autopsy found that the girl was shot thrice and acid was thrown on her face and neck to hide her identity.  She said that the girl may not be Giran Naz but her daughter.

Levies personnel eventually recovered Marri’s wife Giran Naz who had been presumed dead and their five children including a girl from Kohlu.

Khetran has denied allegations of involvement in the gruesome murder of three people. He said the accusations of owning a private prison and the murder of three people is a conspiracy to damage his political reputation.

The Marri Ittehad staged a three-day-long protest in Quetta against the recovery of the bodies and accused the minister of killing the victims.

Balochistan Chief Minister Mir Abdul Quddus Bizenjo had also taken notice of the brutal murder and formed a joint investigation team (JIT) to probe the incident.
