LAHORE: A contempt of court intra-court appeal has been filed in the Lahore High Court (LHC) against Interior Minister Rana Sanullah on Saturday, Bol News reported.

The intra-court appeal has been filed by Advocate Shahid Rana. He has made Rana Sanaullah a party in the appeal.

He said the minister, during a live press conference, leaked an audio conversation between former chief minister Parvez Elahi and president Supreme Court Bar. He said Rana Sanaullah scandalized the judiciary through the audio leak.

The advocate said the Pakistan Muslim League-N (PML-N) leader put the legal circles in a frenzy by affecting privacy of the lawyer and his client. “A contempt of court proceeding should be initiated against Rana Sana for scandalizing the judiciary and committing an unconstitutional act,” he pleaded.

Shahid Arana also appealed to the court to annul the single-bench court verdict of dismissing the plea of contempt of court.

On February 24, an antiterrorism court (ATC) of Gujranwala had issued arrest warrant for Interior Minister Rana Sanaullah, Bol News had reported.

The ATC had directed police to arrest Rana Sanaullah and produce him before the court on March 7.

The arrest warrant against the interior minister had been issued in the case lodged at the Industrial police station of Gujarat, under antiterrorism sections on August 5, 2022. The FIR had mentioned that he had threatened the chief secretary and his family members to kill them.

The Gujarat police had dismissed the case and submitted its report to the court. The court had rejected the police report and issued warrant to arrest the suspect.
