LAHORE: National Accountability Bureau (NAB) Lahore Director General Ali Sarfaraz Hussain has been removed from his post, Bol News reported.

The Establishment Division issued a notification on the transferring the services of Ali Sarfaraz Hussain, BPS-21 officer, to the Government of Punjab. He is expected to be appointed as Chairman, Planning & Development Board in Punjab.

Ali Sarfaraz Hussain was appointed to the post in November last year for a period of three years, replacing Mirza Sultan Muhammad Saleem who was removed from the post.

There have a slew of postings and transfers ever since Aftab Sultan resigned suddenly resigned as NAB Chairman.  The federal government issued a notification on postings and transfers in the anti-graft agency.

As per the notification, the NAB Director Generals posted in Multan and Sukkur have been transferred from their posts.  Fayyaz Ahmed Qureshi was appointed as DG NAB Sukkur and Masood Alam as DG NAB Multan,

In the same way, a director, two deputy directors and two assistant directors posted in Multan, Karachi, Lahore, Sukkur and Rawalpindi have been transferred.

Director NAB HQ Asim Lodhi has been posted as Multan NAB director, deputy directors Zeeshan Haider and Hasan Noor have been transferred to Karachi and Lahore, Assistant Director Jehangir Javed has been transferred to Sukkur and Wajid Hussain has been transferred to Rawalpindi from Karachi.

Earlier Zahir Shah was elected as acting NAB Chairman after the resignation of Aftab Sultan, who stepped down after seven months on the post.

Zahir Shah has acted as the bureau’s director general (operations) in the past and was subsequently appointed as its deputy chairman in October 2021. He has been serving with NAB for almost two decades and has held key positions.

He also performed his duties as the acting chairman for the anti-graft watchdog for about a month in June 2022, following which Aftab Sultan was appointed for the role.
