ISLAMABAD: President Dr Arif Alvi on Wednesday administered oath of office to Ms Fauzia Viqar as Federal Ombudsperson for Protection against Harassment at Workplace.

The oath-taking ceremony held at the Aiwan-e-Sadr was attended by senior government officials.  The president made the new appointment after the completion of the tenure of former Federal Ombudsman for Protection against Harassment at Workplace Kashmala Tariq.

The appointment has been made in accordance with Sections 3 and 21 of the Federal Ombudsman Institutional Reforms of 2013.

Although Tariq’s four-year term as ombudsperson began on February 19, 2018 and ended on February 18, 2022, she continued to hold office even after her tenure had expired.

Last year in June, the Islamabad High Court (IHC) issued a notice to Kashmala Tariq for continuing to work despite the end of her tenure. The IHC had also sent a notice to the law ministry.
