LAHORE: The Counter Terrorism Department (CTD) Punjab has rounded up five crucial alleged terrorists belonging to a banned outfit on Friday, Bol News reported.

The CTD officials said the raid was carried out on a tip-off in Gujranwala and Dera Ghazi Khan. They said the arrested suspects included Abdul Muqeet, Abid Waheed, Gul Zaman, Ramazan and Ikram.

Explosive material, tools for making suicide jacket and weapons were recovered from their possession, the CTD Punjab said. The CTD said arrest of the suspected terrorists belonging to the banned outfit could be possible after investigation from 33 suspects.

The CTD Punjab said 66 suspects were arrested during 420 combing operations this week. No stone would be left unturned to bring the miscreant elements involved in terrorism to justice.

On March 21, three terrorists were killed in Khutti area of Dera Ismail Khan on March 17 in an exchange of fire with the security forces.

However, during the exchange of fire, three soldiers including Havaldar Muhammad Azhar Iqbal, Naik Muhammad Asad and Sepoy Muhammad Essa had embraced martyrdom.

According to the ISPR, terrorists had opened fire on a police check post and on receipt of the information, security forces had immediately cordoned off the area, blocking all possible escape routes. The fleeing terrorists were intercepted in general area of Saggu in Dera Ismail Khan District.

After intense exchange of fire, three suspects were sent to hell. Weapons and ammunition were also recovered from them.

Sanitization of the area was being carried out to eliminate any terrorists there, the ISPR had said.
