LAHORE: Pakistan Tehreek e Insaf (PTI) Chairman Imran Khan will kick off election campaign on Saturday evening by addressing an event in Zaman Park Ground, Lahore, Bol News reported.

The PTI on its official Twitter account said Imran Khan will address the gathering at 6:00 pm.

PTI leader Chaudhry Fawad Hussain said the former prime minister would give the policy statement in his speech. He said the speech would be telecasted in 40 districts through video link.

Meanwhile, Senior Pakistan Tehreek e Insaf (PTI) leader Azam Swati has been released from district jail in Rahim Yar Khan late Friday night.

After getting released from the jail, in a statement, Azam Swati said, “Chief of Army Staff General Asim Munir, the nation is looking towards you. Two generals had said that they don’t have any association with the politics.”

He said the political engineering should end now. It had sown hate in people’s hearts, he added. He asked to use the military for national security to reinstate honour and dignity of the institution.

On the other hand, PTI senior leader Asad Umar was released from Rajapur Jail late on Friday where he was held under detention for the last ten days.

A large number of party workers from Rajanpur, Rojhan, Jampur, Dera Ghazi Khan were present to welcome him. They raised slogans in favour of PTI chairman Imran Khan. PTI leader Aun Abbas Bappi was also present outside the district jail.
