The Islamabad High Court (IHC) on Tuesday issued notice to the parties and sought response on resident’s plea against the eviction illegal immigrants in Pakistan.

An Afghan family living in Jhelum had filed a petition against the eviction notice issued by the officials of the Ministry of Interior.

IHC judge Justice Amir Farooq heard the petition, which stated that only foreigners staying in the country illegally were being asked to leave.

The petitioner mentioned that he and his spouse held Migrant Cards, adding that the couple’s three children were attending school at this stage.

Despite applying in the relevant forums, the petitioner’s plea was allegedly left unheard; the petition said.

In light of these circumstances, the lawyer for the petitioner urged the court to intervene, requesting that harassment by concerned institutions be stopped.

He also emphasized the need to prevent these institutions from taking any drastic action without affording the petitioner a fair hearing.

As a response, the court issued a notice to the parties involved and requested their responses.

The hearing was adjourned, indicating that the case was far from settled and would continue to unfold in the Islamabad High Court.
