According to the important revelations in the investigation of the Avastin injection scandal, an infection was reportedly added during the preparation of the separate doses of the injection, Bol News reported.

According to details, the Punjab Health Department claims that the infection was added during the filling of syringes and the separation of needles. In further investigation, it also claims that sanitation conditions at injection preparation sites were found to be poor. Also,  evidence of adulteration from Avastin injections was found. As the investigation progressed, the new revelation revealed that to increase the volume of Avastin injection, water was generously added.

Sources further said that making separate doses is an illegal offence under the Drug Regulatory Authority of Pakistan (DRAP) Act.

The doses of Avastin injection were made up in syringes. 83 doses of 0.5 mL were prepared from a 4 mL syringe. However, most patients have one eye affected by the injection, and it is difficult to recover sight of the affected person.

Sadly, most of the patients affected by the injection have lost the cornea of the eye. In addition to that, the solution to restoring vision in patients is a corneal transplant.
