The National Database & Registration Authority (NADRA) has introduced a new chip-based smart identification card with advanced security features to enhance identity protection and prevent forgery. This smart ID card offers robust security measures.
The NICOP (National Identity Card for Overseas Pakistanis) is essential for Pakistanis living and working abroad. It serves as their identity card in foreign countries.
For newborn babies born abroad, applying for a NICOP does not require a passport number.
NICOP Fee Structure update 2023
Starting in 2023, NADRA has implemented two fee structures for NICOP, categorized by regions (Zone A and Zone B), with varying fees for different countries.

To apply for NICOP, follow these steps
1. Obtain a token for your application.
2. Have your photograph taken at the NADRA office.
3. Complete the fingerprint and signature process at the designated counter.
5. Receive a printed copy of your application form.
6. Once you have the printed form, get it attested by a gazetted officer.
7. If any of your close blood relatives (e.g., parent, sibling, child) are present during your application at the NRC, their biometrics can be recorded, and form attestation is not needed.
