Lahore – The Office of DGI&P has initiated a new service to expedite immigration procedures at major airports by introducing electronic passports (e-passports) for citizens across the country.

What is e-passports?

The e-passport is a highly secure travel document featuring an embedded electronic chip on one of its pages.

This chip stores biometric information about the passport holder, including their identity verification, biometrics, personal data from the passport’s data page, a unique identification number, and a digital signature.

Compliant with the United Nations ICAO standards, the e-passport is equipped with a contactless (NFC) chip for electronic readability.
