ISLAMABAD: An earthquake with a magnitude of 3.2 hit areas in and around Islamabad, marking another seismic event just days after a 5.8 magnitude quake struck the federal capital and its outskirts.

The tremors were felt in Rawalpindi, Attock, and Chakwal around 9:50 pm. According to the seismological center, the earthquake had a depth of 25 kilometers, and its epicenter was identified as Skardu, Gilgit-Baltistan. Simultaneously, India’s National Center for Seismology recorded a quake in the Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir region in Kishtwar.

As of now, there have been no immediate reports of casualties or damages in the aftermath of the earthquake. Pakistan, situated on the boundary of the Indian and Eurasian tectonic plates, frequently experiences natural disasters like earthquakes.

Given the seismic activity in the region, particularly due to the Indian plate pushing north into the Eurasian plate, the recent earthquakes highlight the need for robust disaster preparedness and mitigation measures in the affected areas.
