GILGIT BALTISTAN: Former chief minister of Gilgit-Baltistan Khalid Khursheed has been disqualified for life from leading the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) GB chapter.

This disqualification follows the earlier decision by the Gilgit-Baltistan Chief Court on July 4, which ruled against Khalid Khursheed Khan in a case related to a fake degree.

In a recent verdict released by the Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) of Gilgit-Baltistan on Thursday, Khalid Khursheed has been barred for life from holding a leadership position within the party.

The decision was made by a three-member bench in response to a petition filed by Shahzad Agha, a member of the GB Assembly, against the former chief minister.

The petitioner contended that Khursheed’s purported law degree was fraudulent and argued for his disqualification under Articles 62 and 63. Despite Khursheed’s claim of obtaining a law degree from London, its authenticity could not be verified.

Having assumed office in December 2020, Khalid Khursheed had been a prominent figure and a close associate of the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) founder and former prime minister.
