LAHORE: Sardar Latif Khosa, a dissatisfied member of the Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP), formally joined the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) on Sunday, citing that he took this step “at the behest” of imprisoned PTI founder Imran Khan.

During a press conference in Lahore, Khosa highlighted that his decision was motivated by the “interests of the nation and democracy,” emphasizing his dedication to advocating for truth.

“I have made this decision solely in the interest of the country and democracy,” he asserted.

Khosa emphasized the significance of upholding the constitution, characterizing it as a “social contract” embodying the principles of welfare states.

He remarked, “The nation can prosper if we adhere to the Constitution. The Constitution provides solutions for every issue if implemented in its true essence.”

Discussing the role of the armed forces, Khosa argued that their responsibilities extend beyond border protection to aiding the state in emergencies like floods and ensuring security during elections.

It is worth noting that Latif Khosa, a member of Imran Khan’s legal team, received an invitation to join the PTI on December 4.

This decision follows the PPP’s suspension of Khosa’s party membership on September 22 for supporting the PTI leader without approval and criticizing state policy during a lawyers’ event. The PPP had issued a notice on September 14, warning of membership termination if Khosa failed to respond within the stipulated timeframe.
