Inspector General Punjab, Dr. Usman Anwar, has quashed rumors circulating on social media and certain news outlets regarding the closure of schools, colleges, and universities in the province.
Contrary to the reports claiming a security threat leading to a shutdown from January 25 to January 29, 2024, Dr. Usman Anwar clarified that there is no such threat.
In a statement from the provincial capital, the IG asserted that no official order has been issued to close any educational institution in Punjab. He reassured the public that all schools, colleges, and universities would continue to operate as usual.
The announcement brings relief to students in various cities, including Lahore, Gujranwala, Sialkot, Rawalpindi, Islamabad, and Faisalabad, as they can attend classes according to the regular schedule.
Dr. Usman Anwar labeled the news of closures as fake and condemned the misuse of online platforms for spreading baseless rumors.
Expressing disapproval of the misinformation, the Inspector General warned of legal action against those responsible for spreading false information on social media.
This clarification aims to dispel uncertainty and maintain the normal functioning of educational institutions across the province, emphasizing the importance of relying on verified sources for information dissemination.
