ISLAMABAD: Former ISI chief Lt. General (r) Faiz Hameed on Monday submitted his response to the Supreme Court (SC) in relation to the  plea filed by ex-Islamabad High Court (IHC) judge Shaukat Aziz Siddiqui, challenging his removal from his post.

In his response to the SC’s notice, the ex-ISI chief refuted the allegations against him, specifically denying the use of influence in the removal of Shaukat Azizi Siddiqui as an IHC judge.

The SC had issued notices to several individuals, including Faiz Hameed, IHC Chief Justice Anwar Khan Kasi, former SC registrar Arbab Muhammad Arif, and retired Brigadier Irfan Ramay, following Siddiqui’s petition against his removal.

Faiz Hameed stated that he never had a meeting with the former IHC judge, emphasizing that Siddiqui had not mentioned any such meeting in his speech or before the judicial council.

He asserted that the accusations made by Siddiqui, including the claim that he said, “Our two-year efforts will go into waste,” were baseless.

Faiz Hameed submitted his reply to the SC through Khawaja Haris. Additionally, former IHC Chief Justice Anwar Khan Kasi and Brigadier (R) Irfan Ramay also responded to the SC, rejecting the accusations leveled against them by ex-Judge IHC Shaukat Aziz Siddiqui.

During the proceedings on December 15, CJP Qazi Faez Isa raised questions about the authenticity of Siddiqui’s allegations and suggested that if true, it would mean that “these army generals were facilitating someone else.”

The CJP inquired about officers aspiring to become Pakistan’s prime minister in 2018 and questioned whether the actions were carried out on the orders of former Army Chief General Bajwa.

Hamid Khan, Siddiqui’s counsel, alleged that Faiz Hameed wanted to keep the former prime minister in jail until the 2018 general elections to favor another political party.

The CJP urged Hamid Khan to name the individuals he was accusing and emphasized the importance of a fair and transparent process in the proceedings. The SC further insisted on hearing all sides of the case before making any judgments.
