ISLAMABAD: Imran Khan, the founder of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) admitted that it was his “biggest mistake” to accept a weak government in 2018, adding he should have held new elections and it would have been a better alternative.

In his view, sitting in the opposition would be preferable to being part of a frail coalition government.

He expressed these views on Friday while speaking to reporters from Rawalpindi’s Adiala jail, where he is currently detained in multiple cases.

Khan reiterated his willingness to engage in talks, emphasizing his political stance over the past 19 months.

He added that he, as a politician, remains “open to dialogue” and is “willing to engage in discussions.”

Khan commented on the current political landscape, expressing concerns about the formation of what he referred to as a “controlled parliament.” Responding to a query, the PTI founder stated that a hung parliament or a weak government would be inadequate in addressing the economic challenges confronting the country. Khan emphasized that genuine reforms and improvements could only be achieved under the governance of a strong government.
