The Directorate General of Immigration and Passports is responsible for issuing or renewing passports for Pakistani citizens.
If the passport has less than 12 months’ validity remaining, applicants can apply for renewal (both domestically and overseas) to obtain a machine-readable passport with an extended validity of either 5 or 10 years, even if it has not yet expired.
Overseas Pakistanis in the UAE have the option to visit the nearest embassy or consulate for the renewal of their travel document.
The directorate has introduced an online service for passport renewal, accessible to both domestic and overseas citizens. To apply for renewal, individuals can simply visit the official website: https://onlinemrp.dgip.gov.pk/e-passport/.
To apply for the renewal of a machine-readable passport through the online passport service, the following documents are required, provided that the current passport is expiring within twelve (12) months.
Color-scanned copies of a valid CNIC, NICOP, smart CNIC, or NICOP on both sides are necessary for the renewal of a machine-readable passport through the online passport service if the current passport is expiring within twelve (12) months.
Scanned copies in color of the current passport are needed, including the first two pages and one randomly selected page as prompted by the system.
A color-scanned copy of a valid visa, Aqama, residence permit, asylum card, or other nationality passport is required for the renewal process when applying through the online passport service.
