Punjab’s Transport Minister, Ibrahim Hassan Murad, announced a substantial push towards electric vehicles (EVs) to combat environmental pollution.

Over 50 charging stations are set to be established across the province, reflecting a commitment to the adoption of sustainable transportation. The Chief Minister has already issued the first E-Rickshaw license, signaling a historic move towards electric mobility.

Minister Murad highlighted the government’s initiative to distribute over 10,000 electric bikes to graduate university students, with an additional 2,000 electric three-wheeler bikes to be provided to special individuals without interest.

This strategic approach aims to position Punjab as a manufacturing hub for electric vehicles, batteries, and components, with a particular focus on the burgeoning electric three-wheeler market.

The Minister emphasized the positive impact of EV adoption, not only on the economy but also in achieving the country’s target of net-zero emissions.
