Shehbaz claims PML-N saved country from economic default

LAHORE: Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) president Shehbaz Sharif asserted that the PML-N played a crucial role in preventing the country from economic default.

He highlighted that in the 2018 elections, the Result Transmission System (RTS) was deliberately blocked through strategic planning, and polling agents were removed to facilitate rigging.

Shehbaz Sharif pointed out that during the tenure of the PML-N government, Pakistan was on the path of development, overcoming challenges such as electricity load shedding, and experiencing growth in the agriculture sector. However, he expressed concern that the country faced a crisis when the PML-N government was ousted from power.

The former prime minister emphasized the PML-N’s commitment to free, fair, and transparent elections, aiming for the prosperity of the nation. Addressing the International Monetary Fund (IMF) agreement, he attributed the deal to the then PTI government, suggesting that it was signed for political gains and pushed Pakistan to the brink of economic default.

It’s worth noting that the PML-N launched its highly anticipated election manifesto on January 27, unveiled by PML-N supremo Nawaz Sharif. During a party event in Lahore, Nawaz Sharif expressed confidence that the PML-N’s manifesto would be fully implemented if the party secured votes. He encouraged the public to read and consider the contents of the manifesto.

Siddiqui, a spokesperson for the party, highlighted that Nawaz Sharif directed the committee drafting the manifesto to include only achievable commitments, discouraging unrealistic promises. The delayed release of the manifesto was attributed to the party’s focus on comprehensive reforms, involving the formation of 32 committees to draft it and assess the party’s past performance.
