ISLAMABAD: The Federal Investigation Agency’s (FIA) counter-terrorism division has summoned Aleema Khan, sister of PTI founder Imran Khan, on allegations of inciting hatred against the state.

As per the FIA notice, Aleema Khan must provide her statement at the FIA headquarters by February 16 at 11 am, failing which legal action may be taken against her.

The notice, referencing inquiry No.4/24 initiated by an FIA sector officer upon the Ministry of Interior’s request, accuses Aleema Khan of disseminating hateful content through a speech and engaging in anti-state activities.

Under Section 160 of the Criminal Procedure Code (CrPC), the notice emphasizes that investigations are ongoing.

Failure to comply with the summons will be construed as an absence of a defense, leading to potential legal repercussions. The summon notice has been dispatched to Aleema Khan’s residence in Lahore.

Previously, the Islamabad High Court (IHC) intervened, restraining the FIA from pursuing action against Aleema Khan.

Her legal counsel, in two separate petitions, requested the suspension of the February 2 notice, provision of evidence, and record, arguing that the notice was only seen on social media and not officially received.

The court has summoned the FIA for a response and adjourned the hearing until the following week. Separate notices were issued by the FIA cybercrime and counter-terrorism wings.
