In Karachi, the Directorate General of Immigration and Passports (DGI&P) is responsible for issuing passports to Pakistani citizens based on the necessary criteria.

The department provides three options—standard, urgent, and fast track—for passport issuance. The official website of DG&IP outlines these categories as follows:

A normal passport will be issued after 21 working days.

An Urgent fee passports will be issued in 5 working days.

A fast-track passport will be issued in two working days.

What’s the update on the issuance of a passport?

According to reports, individuals in Karachi are experiencing significant delays in obtaining passports. They stated that the processing time for a standard category passport has extended to three months instead of the usual 21 days, while an urgent category passport is taking over one and a half months to be issued.

Yet, passports in the fast-track category are issued within 20 days.
