Meteorological Department Issues Alert of Cold Snap Across Pakistan

The Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) has predicted that most regions of the country will experience cold and dry weather over the next 24 hours.

The PMD forecasts the possibility of rain and snowfall in Balochistan, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Gilgit-Baltistan, and Kashmir, with a chance of thunderstorm rain in southwestern districts of Balochistan.

In Islamabad, rain accompanied by strong winds and thunder is anticipated, while western areas are expected to remain partly cloudy.

Over the past 24 hours, Layyah recorded the lowest temperature at -14°C, followed by Kalam at -12°C, Astore at -9°C, and Malam Jabba at -6°C. Other regions such as Skardu, Gupis, and Hunza saw temperatures drop to -5°C, Bagrot to -4°C, and Rawalakot, Gilgit, and Dir to -3°C.

Quetta recorded 1°C, Islamabad 3°C, Peshawar 6°C, Lahore 9°C, and Karachi maintained a temperature of 16°C, according to the Meteorological Department.
