ISLAMABAD: PML-N leader Nawaz Sharif issued a caution on Wednesday, stating that the forthcoming government would face challenging issues in the next two years.

He asserted that his brother Shehbaz is the most suitable candidate for the prime ministerial role, particularly given Pakistan’s current circumstances.

Speaking at the party’s parliamentary session in Islamabad, the three-time prime minister commended Shehbaz Sharif’s performance as prime minister during the Pakistan Democratic Movement’s (PDM) tenure.

Nawaz Sharif praised Shehbaz for preventing the country from defaulting, describing his actions as unprecedented, and expressed hope that Pakistan would recover from its current crises within one or two years.

Nawaz Sharif acknowledged Pakistan’s severe condition, highlighting inflation as a major issue. He stressed the importance of easing public burdens, stabilizing electricity and gas prices, and revitalizing Pakistan’s economy.

In light of the current situation, Nawaz Sharif officially endorsed Shehbaz Sharif as the preferred candidate for prime minister. He also announced that party leader Sardar Ayaz Sadiq would run for the position of National Assembly speaker.

Nawaz Sharif urged all political parties to collaborate on a common agenda to address the country’s crisis. He emphasized the importance of political activities while safeguarding Pakistan’s interests and its democratic system.

Despite facing protests from the PTI during his previous term, Nawaz Sharif highlighted that the PML-N-led federal government remained committed to serving the country and fulfilling its promises to the public.

Nawaz Sharif criticized the legal cases filed against him, attributing his removal from office to unjust actions that ultimately harmed Pakistan.
