The Punjab Mass Transit Authority (PMA) declared that it achieved a historic milestone in ridership on its buses and trains on February 12, 2024.

The figure of 945,899 riders marks the highest count ever documented by PMA, signifying a significant achievement for the organization.

PMA oversees six distinct transit systems in Punjab, comprising the Orange Line Metro Train, Lahore Metrobus, Lahore feeder routes, Multan Metrobus, Multan feeder routes, and the Rawalpindi-Islamabad Metrobus system. Each of these systems experienced a surge in ridership on February 12th.

Yesterday, the interim government of Punjab authorized a fare hike for the Orange Line train and Multan metro bus. Reports suggest that the fare for the Orange Line Metro Train is set to rise by five rupees.

Likewise, a five-rupee increase has been sanctioned for the Multan metro bus fare.
