BISE Lahore: Inter, Matric exams postponed amid India-Pakistan tension

The Punjab Boards Committee of Chairpersons has just released the updated date sheet for the annual matriculation examinations, providing relief to students and parents in the province. Concurrently, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KPK) has also adjusted the schedule for the Secondary School Certificate (SSC) exams in response to concerns raised by the community regarding Ramadan.

Punjab Matriculation Exams:

The Boards of Intermediate and Secondary Education across Faisalabad, Sargodha, Sahiwal, Gujranwala, Multan, Bahawalpur, DG Khan, Rawalpindi, and Lahore will conduct the matriculation exams for the first year in March 2024.

The date sheet reveals key examination dates:

-English on March 4

-Chemistry and General Science on March 6

-Physics and Islamic Studies (Optional) on March 8

-Islamic Studies on March 9

-Economics on March 11

-Pakistan Studies on March 12

-Biology and Computer Science on March 14

-Translation of the Quran on March 15

-Urdu on March 18

Ninth Class Exams:

For ninth-grade students, the annual exams will feature subjects like English, Biology, Computer Science, Chemistry, General Science, Physics, Islamic Studies (Optional), Translation of the Quran, Islamic Studies, Economics, and Pakistan Studies from March 20 to April 5.

KPK SSC Exams:

Addressing concerns related to Ramadan, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KPK) has modified the schedule for its Secondary School Certificate (SSC) exams initially slated for March 14. The exams have been rescheduled to take place on April 18, 2024, aligning with the sacred month and showing respect for the sentiments of students and parents.

The decision to alter exam timetables in both Punjab and KPK underscores the educational authorities’ responsiveness to students’ needs during this critical examination period. These adjustments are aimed at creating a more supportive and considerate environment for students, ensuring they can perform at their best in these significant assessments.
