Punjab schools holidays declare for elections 2024

The Punjab government has declared a four-day holiday for all schools and higher educational institutions across the region in anticipation of the upcoming elections scheduled for February 8, 2024.

Both private and government educational institutions, including schools, colleges, and universities, will remain closed from February 6 to February 9 to facilitate the general elections.

This decision follows the federal government’s announcement of a public holiday on February 5 for Kashmir Day, leading into a series of election holidays from February 6 to 9.

The weekend that follows will extend the closure of schools for an additional two days. Consequently, all educational activities are set to resume on February 12 after the week-long break.

These school holidays create a week-long hiatus for students and education department affiliates, incorporating the Kashmir holiday, the election break, and the regular weekend.

Additionally, the government has revised school timings for Punjab, with classes now scheduled to commence from 8:00 am to 2:30 pm starting February 1, 2024.
