The Chief Meteorologist at the Pakistan Meteorological Department, Dr. Sardar Sarfaraz, has issued a weather alert predicting a fresh spell of rain, hailstorms, and snow set to sweep across the country starting February 25th. Karachi and parts of Balochistan are also bracing for light showers accompanied by thunderstorms during this period.

Dr. Sarfaraz highlighted the significance of this weather pattern, emphasizing that substantial rainfall and snowfall are anticipated in northern regions next week due to the influence of westerly waves. “We are expecting some good rains from Feb 25, which will continue till March or may even extend to April under the influence of westerly waves,” he stated.

Furthermore, the Chief Meteorologist underscored that snowfall in the northern hilly areas is on the horizon, promising relief from fog and smog across the country. He urged the public to take necessary precautions in anticipation of these expected weather conditions.

In addition to cautionary advice, Dr. Sarfaraz also shared positive news for tourists planning trips to Swat and Chitral to experience the winter wonderland. He assured that heavy snowfall is anticipated in these areas during the forecasted period, offering an enchanting spectacle for visitors seeking snowy landscapes.
