ISLAMABAD: Ghulam Nabi Memon has been reappointed as the Inspector General of Police (IGP) for the Sindh province, marking his second tenure in the role.

The decision came after the Sindh government recommended to the central authorities that Memon resume his position as the head of the provincial police force.

Responding to the recommendation from the Sindh government, the federal government has replaced the current IGP, Riffat Mukhtar, with Ghulam Nabi Memon. Memon previously held the position from June 2022 to August 2023. Following the federal directive, Riffat Mukhtar Raja has been instructed to report to the Establishment Division.

In August 2023, Ghulam Nabi Memon was relieved of his duties as the Sindh inspector general (IG) and instructed to report to the Establishment Division.

Throughout his career, Ghulam Nabi Memon has held various significant positions within law enforcement, including Additional IG Karachi, Director Intelligence Bureau Karachi, DIG South, SSP Ghotki, Khairpur, Larkana, Malir, and other key districts.
