Consumers in Pakistan may face higher petrol prices starting April 1, 2024, as the federal government considers an increase. Sources suggest a potential rise of Rs9.50 per liter, which would raise the price from 279.75 to 289.25 rupees per liter. Diesel prices are also expected to increase by Rs0.86, reaching Rs285.56 per liter.

Reports indicate that the government is contemplating raising the petroleum levy from Rs60 to Rs100 per liter. This levy has undergone several adjustments recently, with significant increases observed in FY 2023, starting from Rs20 per liter in July 2022 and rising to Rs60 per liter by September 2023.
