NEPRA announced it would review requests from electricity distribution companies (DISCOs) for a substantial revenue increase totaling Rs967 billion from consumers.

The decision responds to financial strains outlined by six DISCOs for the upcoming fiscal year.

GEPCO tops the list with a request for Rs376 billion, followed by MEPCO at Rs160 billion.

FESCO seeks Rs236 billion, TESCO Rs92 billion, and PESCO Rs67 billion. SEPCO rounds off with a request for Rs35.70 billion.

NEPRA has scheduled a hearing on April 2nd to assess these requests. The increase in revenue aims to address financial challenges within the power sector, with DISCOs seeking additional funds to sustain operations and infrastructure development.
