Pakistan is preparing for what could be an extended Eid holiday this year. According to meteorological forecasts, Eid-ul-Fitr will fall on Wednesday, 10th April.

Fawad Chaudhry, the Federal Minister for Science and Technology, had proposed a five-year lunar calendar in 2019 to address the ongoing issue of moon sightings.

This year, Ramadan will last 29 days, concluding in the Eid celebration on April 10th, as predicted by the calendar.

The Meteorological Department, in collaboration with Chaudhry’s initiative, has confirmed that the Shawwal moon would most likely be seen on the evening of Ramadan 29th.

Director General Sahibzad Khan underlined the scientific analysis’s agreement with the lunar calendar, confirming anticipation for the Eid festivities.

Traditionally, Eid holidays begin a day before the actual celebration, allowing for preparation and festivities. In light of Eid falling on a Wednesday, the government has declared a four-day holiday from Tuesday to Friday.

This, combined with the upcoming weekend, is expected to give the public a significant six-day break.
