PTI announce candidates for upcoming by-elections in Punjab

LAHORE: The Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) announced its supported candidates for upcoming by-elections in Punjab on Wednesday.

PTI Punjab President Hammad Azhar, using the platform “X” (formerly Twitter), disclosed the party’s endorsement of two National Assembly contenders and seven Punjab Assembly candidates.

Azhar revealed that Shehzad Farooq will run as an independent backed by PTI for NA-119, previously held by Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz.

Additionally, Sardar Muhammad Hussain Dofra is PTI’s pick for NA-132 in Qusur. Furthermore, Hakeem Nisar will represent PTI in PP-22 Chakwal, Parvaiz Elahi in PP-32 Gujarat, Owais Qasim in PP-54 Narowal, and Aijaz Bhatti in PP-139 Sheikhupura.

Azhar also announced Hafiz Zeeshan as the PTI-endorsed independent candidate for PP-149, Monis Elahi for PP-158 Lahore, and Yousuf Meo for PP-164 Lahore.

The remaining constituency nominees will be announced later, according to Azhar. The Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) has scheduled by-elections for vacant national and provincial assembly seats on April 21.

These by-elections include six National Assembly seats, two each from the KP and Balochistan assemblies, and 12 vacancies in the Punjab Assembly.
