Rain-related incidents claim 27 lives in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa

PESHAWAR: Twenty seven people have died in rain-caused incidents in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa during the last four days.

According to Provincial Disaster Management Authority Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, thirty-three houses were completely damaged while one-hundred and twenty-nine houses partially damaged due to heavy rains across the province.

The worst rain-affected districts include Malakand, Bajaur, Peshawar, Khyber, Swat, Bannu, Lakki Marwat, Mardan, Lower Dir and Charsadda.

Meanwhile, Chief Minister Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Ali Amin Gandapur has directed the concerned authorities to distribute relief goods and financial assistance among the rain affected people.

Under the announced compensation plan, each deceased individual’s family will receive Rs1 million, while Rs300,000 will be provided to each severely injured person. Additionally, Rs50,000 will be given to each minor who sustained injuries. Furthermore, financial aid will be extended to those who suffered losses during the rain.

In response to the situation, the Chief Minister has instructed the relief secretary to compile a report detailing the extent of life and financial losses incurred due to the heavy rain. He has also directed district administrations, the Provincial Disaster Management Authority, and Rescue 1122 to remain vigilant and provide assistance to affected individuals.
