Sanam Javed included in candidates’ list for women’s Senate seats
LAHORE: A revised list of candidates for the women’s reserved seats in the Punjab Senate was released on Tuesday.
Among the revisions, Sanam Javed, representing PTI, was included in the list by the election commission.
Following the rejection of her nomination papers by the Election Commission of Pakistan, Sanam Javed appealed to the Appellate Tribunal. The Lahore High Court’s Appellate Tribunal, on Friday, granted Sanam Javed’s appeal, permitting her participation in the Senate elections. Justice Shahid Bilal Hasan, presiding over the tribunal, instructed the ECP to add Sanam Javed’s name to the roster of candidates for the Senate elections.
Consequently, the revised list now features four contenders vying for two women’s reserved seats from Punjab: Anosha Rehman and Bushra Anjum Butt representing PML-N, Faiza Malik from the People’s Party, and Sanam Javed from PTI.
