Weather update: rain and thunderstorms expected in Pakistan

Rain, wind, and thunderstorms with light snowfall over the hills are expected in Islamabad, Rawalpindi, and other regions of Pakistan on Friday night and Saturday.

According to the Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD), a light westerly wave is prevailing over the higher areas of Pakistan. It is predicted to remain for the next 12 hours.

Under these conditions, rain-wind/thunderstorms with light snowfall over the hills are expected on Friday night in the twin cities, Gilgit-Baltistan, upper Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa, Kashmir, and surrounding mountainous areas.

Partly overcast skies with rain-wind/thunderstorms are expected in isolated areas of Gilgit-Baltistan, lower Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa, Kashmir, Punjab, and Balochistan on Saturday evening/night.

On Saturday and Sunday, Islamabad’s maximum temperatures are predicted to remain between 26 and 28 degrees Celsius.

Rawalpindi’s maximum temperatures will most likely hover between 25 and 27 degrees Celsius on Saturday and Sunday.

Meanwhile, rain has fallen in Kashmir, upper Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa, Islamabad, north/central Punjab, Gilgit-Baltistan, and Zhob over the last 24 hours. Dry weather prevailed across the country.
