In a move aimed at providing relief to consumers, electricity bills are scheduled to decrease by Rs 4.12 per unit in May, representing a significant drop compared to March.

This decision follows a petition presented to the National Electric Power Regulatory Authority (Nepra), advocating for a reduction in fuel cost adjustment from Rs 4.92 per unit in April to Rs 2.94 per unit in May.

The Ministry of Power Division affirmed this adjustment in a statement issued on Tuesday. The statement also underscored a previous reduction in power tariffs for April, which saw rates decline from Rs 7.6 per unit in March to Rs 4.92 per unit.

These successive reductions in electricity tariffs are warmly welcomed by consumers, alleviating the financial strain of energy expenses.

As we enter May, consumers can anticipate further savings on their electricity bills owing to these adjustments in fuel costs.
