In Dubai, every citizen and resident, including Pakistani nationals, must get an Emirates ID card from the Federal Authority for Identity, Citizenship, Customs, and Ports Security-ICP. This card allows people to access government services, and not having it could lead to legal issues.

All citizens and residents of the UAE and GCC countries, as well as expatriates like Pakistanis, need to go to the Federal Authority for Identity, Citizenship, Customs, and Ports Security-ICP, or an approved typing center, to apply for the Emirates ID card. Some applicants may also need to visit an ICP service center to give their biometric information.

To apply for an Emirates ID card, you’ll need the following:

  1. A valid passport.
  2. A permit that allows you to have a valid residence permit, renew a residence permit, or have a valid residence permit if you didn’t get an ID card when you got your residence permit.

  4. A recent personal photo (4.5 x 3.5 cm) with a white background, regardless of age.
  5. For children under 15, either their original birth certificate, one parent’s passport, or their Emirates ID.
  6. If someone else is applying on your behalf, they’ll need the original agency certificate to prove they’re authorized.

In May 2024, here are the fees you’ll need to pay to get a new Emirates ID card in the UAE:

  • AED 100 (varies based on the duration): Fee for issuing the card for five years.

  • AED 150: Additional fee for urgent service, available at customer happiness centres.
