Karachi Intermediate exams postponed due to heatwave
The Board of Intermediate Education Karachi (BIEK) has postponed the intermediate exams for 2024 to protect students from severe heatwaves expected in the coming days.
The exams, initially scheduled to start on May 22, have now been delayed by five days following directives from Sindh Chief Minister Murad Ali Shah.
BIEK announced the change in a post, stating, “Attention, All Students of Inter Part 1 and Part 2 Exams 2024, the papers have been postponed till May 28.”
The decision was made after the Meteorological Office warned of heatwave conditions due to high pressure in the upper atmosphere.
These conditions are expected to affect most parts of the country, particularly Punjab and Sindh, from May 21, with severe heatwave conditions likely from May 23 to 27.
During this period, temperatures in Sindh and Punjab are forecasted to be 4 to 6°C above normal from May 21 to 23, and 6 to 8°C above normal from May 23 to 27.
With the postponement, the intermediate exams in Karachi will now commence on May 28. This delay provides students with additional time to prepare for their exams.
