In Lahore, the cost of a 20-kg bag of flour has seen a notable reduction, dropping by Rs 200. As confirmed by the Chairman of the Flour Mills Association, Asim Raza, the new price for a 20-kg bag of flour stands at Rs 2,000, a significant decrease from its previous price of Rs 2,800.
This reduction in flour prices is attributed to a decline in the cost of wheat. With this decrease, flour mills have begun procuring wheat directly from farmers. Raza emphasized solidarity with farmers and urged the government to lift the inter-provincial ban on wheat transportation.
He highlighted the importance of enabling Punjab’s farmers to compete fairly by allowing them to purchase wheat from other provinces without constraints.
This development not only spells relief for consumers grappling with high food prices but also signifies a positive shift in support for agricultural producers.
As flour becomes more affordable, it is hoped that such measures will alleviate financial burdens on households and foster a more sustainable agricultural ecosystem.
