In Islamabad, a protest has resulted in the suspension of Metro Bus Services, causing significant inconvenience for daily commuters. The service, which typically runs between Saddar Station and Faiz Ahmed Faiz Station, has been temporarily halted at the request of the Islamabad DC following the tragic deaths of two workers involved in the protest.

The Rawalpindi-Islamabad Metrobus, an 83.6 km (51.9 mi) bus rapid transit system, is crucial for the Islamabad–Rawalpindi metropolitan area. It features four distinct routes – the Red, Orange, Blue, and Green Lines, each serving specific routes and purposes.

The Red and Orange Lines, known for their dedicated lanes and well-designed stations, provide a smooth commuting experience. In contrast, the Blue and Green Lines share their routes with regular traffic on the Islamabad Expressway and Srinagar Highway, respectively.

The Metrobus network’s journey began with the Red Line’s inauguration on 4 June 2015. This line, extending 22.5 kilometers, connects Pak Secretariat in Islamabad to Saddar in Rawalpindi. The Orange Line followed on 18 April 2022, covering 25.6 kilometers between the Peshawar Morr Interchange and the Islamabad International Airport. The network further expanded with the Green and Blue Lines on 7 July 2022.

As the city anticipates the resumption of Metro Bus Services, the disruption caused by the Save Gaza March highlights the essential role these services play in the daily lives of residents.
