The National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) has issued an urgent alert due to heavy rains and thunderstorms predicted across Pakistan from June 1.

The Meteorological Department warns of impacts in upper regions like Lahore, Murree, Galiyat, Islamabad, Rawalpindi, and other parts of Punjab.

Heatwave Expected: While the upper regions brace for rain, the Punjab and Sindh plains anticipate intense heat, with temperatures rising up to six degrees above normal. Islamabad may see a rise of three to five degrees.

Rain and Thunderstorms Forecast: From June 1, areas including Lahore, Murree, Galiyat, Islamabad, Rawalpindi, and more are expected to experience rain, dust storms, and thunderstorms. While this may relieve the heat, it also raises concerns about severe weather events.

Flood and Landslide Risks: NDMA alerts of potential flooding in rivers and landslides in hilly areas due to heavy rains. Emergency response teams are being prepared.

At-Risk Areas: Regions likely to experience rain and thunderstorms include Lahore, Murree, Galiyat, Islamabad, Rawalpindi, and more.

Safety Precautions: The public is advised to take precautions, especially in flood-prone and landslide-prone areas. Avoiding weak infrastructure during rain is crucial to preventing accidents. Strong winds and heavy rains could damage crops, electricity poles, and buildings.
