Punjab govt to reduce food prices at restaurants – details here

The Punjab government has decided to implement measures to lower the prices of cooked food at hotels and restaurants throughout the province. Reports indicate that the prices of burgers, pizzas, Karahi Gosht, daal fry, and other food items will decrease as inflation has eased in the past several weeks.

Authorities plan to hold discussions with restaurant associations to encourage them to lower food prices, given the significant decline in the prices of flour, chicken, and ghee.

This move follows the provincial government’s earlier action to reduce the prices of bakery items, including “double roti” (bread).

In Lahore, the city district administration has announced a decrease of Rs 50–60 in the price of double roti, setting the new price for large bread at Rs 180. This reduction is part of a broader effort to make food more affordable for consumers.

Additionally, the Pakistan Bureau of Statistics (PBS) reported a further decrease of 0.34 percent in weekly inflation, as measured by the Sensitive Price Indicator (SPI) for the week ending May 23.
