Day temperatures are expected to continue 02-03 degrees Celsius above normal levels in Peshawar and parts of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa during this week. Rain-wind/thunderstorms and isolated hailstorms during the weekend will help carrying the temperatures to the normal levels.

As per the Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD), high pressure will continue in the upper atmosphere in most parts of the country mainly in southern half. A westerly wave will likely enter western parts of the country on 10th May (evening/night). It will likely grip upper parts on 11th May.

Under the effect of this weather system, day temperatures are likely to remain 02-03°C above normal from Wednesday to Friday.

Irregular rain-wind/thunderstorms are expected in Chitral, Dir, Swat, Abbottabad, Mansehra, Haripur, Kohistan, Shangla, Buner, Malakand, Waziristan, Kohat, Lakki Marwat, Bannu, Dera Ismail Khan, Bajaur, Mohmand, Karak, Khyber, Peshawar, Charsadda, Nowshera, Swabi, Mardan and Kurram from Friday night to Sunday morning. Hailstorms are also likely at isolated places during the period. The wet situations will help carrying the temperatures to the normal levels during the weekend.

Possible Impacts and recommends: The farmers are guided to manage the watering of crops and wheat harvesting accordingly. General public is advised to avoid unnecessary exposure to direct sunlight. Windstorm/hailstorm and lightning may affect daily routines, standing crops, loose structures like electric poles, vehicles and solar panels.
