The Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) has forecasted that the ongoing heatwave in Sindh will persist until May 27.

According to their analysis, most parts of Pakistan are experiencing continental air and high-pressure conditions in the upper atmosphere, contributing to the prolonged heatwave. Temperatures are expected to remain significantly above normal levels, with upper districts experiencing 6 to 8 degrees Celsius higher than usual and other parts of the province seeing 4 to 6 degrees Celsius above normal.

Coastal areas like Karachi will also experience hot and humid weather, with maximum temperatures ranging from 37-40°C on Thursday and Friday.

In the past 24 hours, Sindh has experienced very hot and dry weather, with Mohenjo-Daro, Jacobabad, and Dadu recording maximum temperatures of 49°C.

Karachi saw a maximum temperature of 37°C, with a relative humidity of 60 percent in the evening, while Hyderabad recorded a maximum temperature of 46°C with a relative humidity of 47 percent.
