As Eidul Adha draws near, Karachi’s residents are actively preparing for Qurbani (sacrifice). A key part of these preparations is securing a suitable and affordable Qasai (butcher).

This year, the Meat Merchants Association has announced new rates for slaughtering sacrificial animals, which show a notable increase from previous years.

Slaughtering Rates for Eidul Adha 2024

For those planning to perform Qurbani, here are the official rates set by the Meat Merchants Association for the first day of Eid:

  • Cow: Rs20,000
  • Goat: Rs10,000
  • Camel: Rs40,000

Nadeem Qureshi, a representative of the Meat Merchants Association, stated that the rates for the second and third days of Eid will be significantly lower, almost half of the initial day’s prices.

This reduction aims to alleviate the financial strain for those performing Qurbani later.

  3. Compare Rates: Don’t settle for the first price you get. Compare quotes from different butchers to ensure you’re getting a fair rate.
  4. Community Butchers: Sometimes, arranging for a community butcher can be more cost-effective. Check with local community centers or mosques.
  5. Verify Credentials: Make sure the butcher you hire is experienced and has good reviews to avoid any issues during the Qurbani process.

Eidul Adha is a time for reflection, sacrifice, and community. Despite the increased rates for Qasai services, careful planning and early bookings can help manage some of the costs.

By using the established cattle markets and following these tips, Karachi residents can ensure a smooth and meaningful Qurbani experience.
